Prof. Dr. Markus Romani, Head of the Bachelor Civil Engineering Division

Markus Romani has been Head of the Bachelor in Civil Engineering course at Bern University of Applied Sciences since 2009.

Career:

• Received his doctorate in 2008 at the Universität der Bundeswehr in Munich; his thesis was entitled “Mauerwerk unter Druckstossbelastung-Tragverhalten und Berechnung mit Verstärkung durch Kohlefaserlamellen” (“Structural behaviour of masonry under shock pressure loads and evaluation with carbon-fibre lamellae reinforcement”). Graduated from Karlsruhe University in 1996 with diploma in engineering, then worked as research assistant at Karlsruhe University.
• From 2002 he was a research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for High-Speed Dynamics.

He worked as a façade engineer for Schmidling-TSK in Aesch, Canton BL, in 2008.
