Center for Development and Cooperation CDC

Areas & projects
We concentrate on four areas:
We offer a wide range of services including consultancy, backstopping, training, evaluation and vocational and continuous training. We seek partnerships with development agencies, research institutes, NGOs, private companies and other bodies involved in overseas cooperation and development and develop joint projects with them.
Together with our partners we are committed to long-term projects. Knowing a country, its culture and people well is essential to achieving lasting results and an important factor in making real, substantial improvements and changes.
We focus on the following areas:
Architecture
- Urban transformation in emerging and developing countries
- Civil engineering infrastructure in suburban areas
- Development of emergency housing
Wood
- Forestry and the timber industry
- Wood treatment and processing
- Timber construction
Civil Engineering
Our approach
People with their needs, potential and limitations are the focus of our attention. That's why we seek close cooperation with local specialists and promote the exchange of information and knowledge.
We operate in areas where we have the relevant skills and expertise. In areas where we know our contribution will make a real difference to achieving real objectives.
We take decisions in cooperation with our partners, share responsibilities and successes and make efficient use of the resources available. All with the greatest transparency.
We take all the relevant economic, environmental and social factors into consideration because we are interested in lasting solutions. We respect other cultures, religions and traditions.

R&D
Create necessary basics
Research and development are vital to meeting local, regional and global challenges. Researchers in developing countries have little or no resources and few opportunities to do basic research and transfer results into the practical world. We are interested in the cooperation with researchers in developing countries and seek to promote the transfer of knowledge and the growth of research capabilities.
Know-how- and technology transfer
Access and exchange of know-how
People in emerging and developing nations often have very limited access to new technologies, methods and services. Very often these things are in a form which is inappropriate in the context of a developing country and require customisation before they can meet real needs. We advise our partners about the latest developments in research. We promote links between education, research and industry. We take economic, social and environmental concerns into account and propose appropriate technologies, methods and services.
Provide necessary capacities
Specialist expertise and real skills are the capital of lasting economic growth. Access to further and higher education. Close links between education and industry. These are just a few of the basics that we take for granted but which often do not exist in developing countries. We support further and higher education projects, advise decision makers, train teaching staff and encourage links between education, training and industry.
SME Development
Transfer the knowledge needed for sustained economic development
Successful enterprises create jobs and income and drive economic growth. These are important factors in the positive development of a region but not something that necessarily reduces poverty. We want to eliminate poverty through environmentally aware economic growth and development. We do this by supporting businesses, service providers, representative bodies and other organisations in the relevant areas. It goes without saying that cooperation between education and industry is a vital part of this activity, too.
