International research projects with universities and training institutions all over the world and cross-border consultancy form a major part of research and development work at the Bern University of Applied Sciences Architecture, Wood and Civil Engineering.
--> our international research partners
We attach particular importance to cooperation with emerging and developing countries. Our Center for Development and Cooperation CDC manages the cooperation and development projects produced by the divisions architecture, wood and Civil Engineering.
We are also involved in two extensive international projects in the developing countries India and China. In both of these we endeavour, to build up a range of services in teaching, R&D and post-graduate courses with local partners.
International project elope
The “elope” project studio (embedded learning-oriented project environment) has been available to master’s degree students since spring 2009. It is an international and trans-disciplinary programme managed by the AHB-BFH.
After an initial week spent together in person at the client’s location, the students who take part – and their professors – continue to be based at their home universities around the world, but work together using modern information and communications technologies, such as video conferencing etc.).
The project tasks all come under the meta-heading of “Health and Architecture”. In the past, these have included concepts for hospital buildings, public housing in China, and sports facilities, developed in trans-disciplinary dialogue involving architects, civil engineers, designers, sociologists, artists, technicians and landscape architects. You can find information about current projects under elope.
