The research unit Production and Logistics deals primarily with the automation of production and logistics and the machining and processing of solid wood, wood substrates and surfaces.
Our laboratories are equipped for applied research. We are thus able to put our specialist knowledge to the test in national and international research projects.
For our reverse engineering activities we use the latest 3D data processing techniques, laser scanning, dedicated software, CNC technology and robotics. We are leaders in radio frequency identification (RFID) applications especially where these are used for the production of window frames, timber houses, kitchen cabinets and furniture.
Our mission is to promote the introduction of fully-automated manufacturing cells in the woodworking industries. Automated manufacturing covers everything starting with 3D data capture and surface sensing with numeric control programs and process optimised parameters right through to the automated feeding of machining centres which employ RFID part identification technology.
