(previously Timber Construction and Building Physics)
The research unit "Timber and Composite Construction" develops and optimises timber and composite constructions and all those constructions where wood is used in combination with other building materials.
We also research building physics, the physical effects of processes and methods on building materials. Our research findings are used to develop practical solutions. When requested by property owners, we test new materials and construction methods. We research prefabrication and the latest building technologies as ways of optimising the building process. We are particularly interested in multi-storey buildings.
Testing and services in the following areas:
- Building physics
- Multi-storey buildings and building shells
- Building restoration (preservation of monuments)
- Load bearing structures
- Composite constructions
